Please note that due to the installation of a stream gage on Spencer Stream,

except for the first two releases, we will be releasing water from Long Falls dam

as necessary to provide the above flows as minimum values directly below Spencer Stream.

    hardwood tree snag that almost entirely crosses the river, located
    approximately one mile downstream of the dam.

  • These are the only negotiated release dates. You can usually count on water on weekdays and most weekends until June, maybe to mid May this year. This is a peaking hydroelectric station that means water is more available on weekdays when electric demands are highest.

    Penobscot CANADA FALLS / SEBOOMOOK BOATING FLOWS—2007

    Special boating release on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend of 1,500 cfs

    Weekend Date Flow Level Flows will begin at 10 AM and continue until 3 PM on each release date.

    Minimum daily flow increased to 500 cfs. This flow will be available 24/7 throughout the boating season.

    Special "high-water" release—Saturday, September ? @ 1500 cfs.

    Flow Information System: Flow information will be available from April 1st until October 15th.

    Please note that there may be additional  non-scheduled boatable flows throughout the season when it is necessary

    to move water downstream for flood control or generation capacity).

    2007 Deerfield Release Schedule

    2007 Dryway/#5 Station Dam

    32 scheduled releases. Friday releases are for four hours and begin at 11 a.m. Saturday releases last five hours and begin at 10 a.m. Sunday releases are four hours beginning at 10 a.m. Flows vary from 900-1100 cfs.

     

    2007 Zoar Gap/Fife Brook Dam

    106 scheduled releases. Releases from Fife Brook Dam start between 9:30 a.m. and 12 noon, with a flow of at least 700 cfs.

    For Monroe Bridge (aka the Dryway), the code is 255122. The power company has changed the flow phone system so that it provides real time data as well as forecasts for the next 24 hours. The information at this number is for both the Connecticut and Deerfield Rivers. The call is free, sponsored by PG&E National Energy Group. The update usually happens around 5 P.M.
